Your Fave Polyamorous Dating App Celebrates One Year Of Open Relationship & Sexuality Education!

Celebrating 1 year of OpenEd!

Recently, our team at #OPEN, the polyamorous dating app for people who are interested in or already engaged in open relationships, polyamory, and ethical non-monogamy, celebrated the one-year anniversary of our popular #openEd virtual education series.

Conceptualized at the beginning of the pandemic, our team knew that finding new, virtual ways to come together as a community would be vital to foster a sense of connection when many were feeling isolated (both literally and figuratively). #openEd became a platform for open-minded and accessible education to those seeking it out.

“A year ago, we knew that our members — both current and future — would need to feel a new sense of connection as lockdowns were initiated across North America and around the world.”

Amanda Wilson, Co-Founder #open

In one year we’ve proudly hosted 48 episodes, each offering opportunities to learn from educators, thought leaders, and influencers across the sexuality and relationship spectrum. The #openEd series has reached over 2,000 live viewers and over 15,000 replays and we’ve addressed topics ranging from sexuality information and techniques to relationship skills to BDSM techniques and more. As a company that prioritizes education in our mission, we offer these workshops free of charge via live streams, as well as posting recorded episodes on social media channels.

The polyamorous and #open community didn’t just need a polyamorous dating app, they wanted a community, they wanted a place to learn and share. This is why we started #openED.

“In keeping with our company’s values, we decided to reach out to our community of educators and influencers to ask their help in our endeavor, and we were thrilled by their willingness to help us do just that!”

We’ve archived all of our educational videos on our YOUTUBE CHANNEL to make them available to all.

Sarah Sloane, curator of our #openEd program, adds “as a sex-positive educator, I know the value of giving people opportunities to hear about new ideas, new skills, and gain inspiration, especially during times of stress and lockdown. In the past year, we’ve heard from so many people, both inside and outside of the #open community, just how important our workshops and events have been to help them stay connected and inspired.”

As a team, we at #open plan to continue the series, we’re not just a polyamorous dating app, we want to share and inspire. With upcoming episodes that include topics such as building racial diversity within ENM communities, sexuality & mental health, and more. We also offer exclusive members-only nights where #OPEN members get to mix and mingle with others in our dating community.

Thank you to all of the members who have and continue to support, attend and engage with our #openEd sessions- we wouldn’t be able to do any of it without the amazing app members and educators that we’ve come to love! Cheers to the next year!

What is Polyamory?

Polyamory, or consensual nonmonogamy, is the practice of having multiple intimate relationships, whether sexual or just romantic, with the full knowledge and consent of all parties involved. Polyamory is generally not gender-specific; anyone can have multiple partners of any gender.

What is a Polyamorous Dating App?

#open is an app for people who are exploring open relationships, created by members of the non-monogamous community. Co-founders Amanda and David realized there was a need for a platform where couples could seek authentic connections together or separately, while promoting consent, transparency, and communication. That’s why #open has the option to create both solo and partnered profiles

#Open is a fun and fresh approach to the standard adult dating app scene. Upon making your profile, you’ll have the choice between creating a solo account, partnered account, or a “double profile” where users can toggle in between the two with the ability to edit the account type at any time. Even better, the app has a strict no-NSFW image policy and encourages the use of usernames or nicknames for heightened security, so there’s also less of a chance you’ll find yourself harassed or spammed with dick pics by a deranged user.

#Open also requires all of its users to play “N.I.C.E,” it’s so refreshing to see a dating app highlight consent, respect, and boundaries. However, if you’re feeling a little more…open…there’s a spot to add your social media handles and define your current relationship situation or describe what you’re looking for. #Open also functions on–you guessed it–hashtags. It offers up three phrases for users to complete that will help them find whatever it is they’re looking for. Some examples being: “I’m open to trying…”, “My interests are…?”, and “I’m looking for…?” which can all be answered by typing in specific phrases which then convert into active hashtags.
